 “Between July 1999 and September 2005 NTC NefteGazDiagnostika performed an underground oil pipelines acoustic emission inspection at OOO LUKoil – Kaliningradmorneft”.

A total of 265 km of oil pipeline diameters 127 to 423 mm were inspected, 164 defects identified were critical for further pipeline operation. The accuracy of defects identification and their criticality was fully confirmed by ultrasonic and magnetic particles inspection performed by OOO LUKoil – Kaliningradmorneft’s nondestructive testing department.

Following the completed diagnostic works corrective actions were taken to eliminate the identified defects.

Given high efficiency of underground pipelines inspection using Acoustic Emission method the oil company management are considering the possibility of extending this method to Oil Company LUKoil corporate system with NTC NefteGazDiagnostika’s involvement.
